Federated Search

A Federated Search provides reliable search results from many databases in seconds. It collates the results as if they were from a single source.

A federated search is one that simultaneously searches a number of databases collating and displaying the results as if they were a single source. A federated search saves a great deal of time for the person performing the search and ensures more accurate and comprehensive results. Reliable results returned in seconds.

The Datactics Federated Search application allows online and real-time searches in standalone or integrated environments for applications including client information systems, product inventory, watch list screening (PEP/OFAC/WorldCheck), online entity search and general enquiries.

The need to search across disparate data silos is not new. The traditional approach has been to create a central index or Data Warehouse against which searches could be made. Due to ownership and data protection laws, this approach has prevented sensitive data from being made available to all organizations that have an interest. It requires all data custodians to provide a copy of the data to a third-party over which they would have no control.

By contrast, a federated search allows a user to search for records that are held in multiple data stores without the need to construct a data warehouse. This means that data custodians have control over who has access to the data. All local security requirements are respected.

The Datactics Federated Search application allows a fuzzy search of these multiple data stores, collating the result to a single record and presents that to the user. In essence it is creating the golden record, or the single version of truth for the information being sought.
